“I thought the job was not done for the team….”: Shubman on low-key celebration after scoring hundred

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India star batter Shubman Gill scored a brilliant hundred on Day 3 of the ongoing second test match against England in Vizag. It also ended Gill’s prolonged slump since deciding to bat at No 3 during the test series in the Caribbean. The Gujarat Titans captain was under tremendous pressure to score, having amassed only 310 runs from 12 innings batting at No. 3 before this test match.

Despite the impressive feat, fans were surprised when Shubman chose not to celebrate the hundred with his signature ‘bow down’ celebration.

“I’m definitely very pleased but I think I left a bit out there, to be honest. We were in a good position and I think we could have scored a few more runs… but, overall, I think it was a pretty good effort,” Gill said during the post day’s play press conference in Vizag.

England will need 332 runs to win while India requires 9 wickets to win the test and level the series. Talking about the situation of the match, Gill said, “Things are about 70-30 [in our favour] at the moment and the morning session will be a very important one.”

On being asked about the wicket, Gill said, “It’s still a pretty decent wicket to bat on. But it’s not an easy wicket… you have to apply yourself – the odd ball is turning and keeping low – and if we get the ball in the right areas, we will get the job done tomorrow.

India needs 9 wickets to level the series, while England need 332 runs on Day 4 to go 2-0 up in the series.
