Kolkata , December 11 : Defending champions Mohun Bagan will kick start their I League campaign against Aizwal FC on January 09 at the Salt Lake Stadium .Mohun Bagan’s next two home matches are against Salgaokar FC on January 16 , followed by derby against East Bengal on January 23 . Sanjay Sen will take a break from I League to play their ACL match against Tampines Rovers . Sanjay Sen will take his team to Pune to play their first away match against DSK Shibajians on January 30. The AIFF have also announced the provisional dates for the second leg matches .
AIFF have accepted Bagan officials request to reschedule the I League derby on January 23 .The first derby was slated to take place on January 24 next year .But with the AFC Champions League Qualifying Round playoff match scheduled on January 27 , Bagan officials in discussion with coach Sanjay Sen wanted the derby to be pre-poned for a day so that the players get sufficient break ahead of their ACL tie against Tampines Rovers at the Salt Lake Stadium .
Meanwhile Bagan officials are not very happy with Judelin Aveska’s form. But according to a top official of the club ,the Haitian footballer will be given a fair run to showcase his potentiality .
Mohun Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen is happy with Mohun Bagan being drawn in an easy group. “We have been drawn in a easy group. Our main focus will be to earn a berth in the AFC Champions League group stage.”
