FIFA U17 World Cup: What do the spectators need to know before going to watch matches at Salt Lake Stadium?

Kolkata: Good news for football fans and spectators looking to go to the Salt Lake Stadium for the FIFA U17 World Cup. Spectators with their own vehicle will not have to worry about parking. All you need to do is download an app Parksnap which will guide a valid ticket holder to the designated parking area. The mobile app was launched on Saturday by the Bidhan Nagar Police Commissionerate.

There will be seven gates at the Salt Lake Stadium. All the gates will open 2 hours prior to the start of play.  There will be three tier security arrangements in place at all the gates. Spectators are requested not to carry any items which are not permissible. There will be scanners at all the gates. No one will be allowed inside the stadium without mobile phone and wallets. Almost 3000 police personnel will be deployed in and around the stadium.  260 CCTV has been installed across the stadium.

According to DC Headquarters Santosh Pandey, “No one will be allowed to enter the stadium without any dangerous items. The spectators will be checked thoroughly before entering the stadium. There will be parking arrangements for 700 cars around the stadium.”

The State Transport Department has arranged for shuttle services from 4 locations – Karunamoyee , Milan Mela, Maniktala and Ultadanga. A total of 200 special busses will run during the match days.

The City of Joy is all geared up to host the FIFA U17 World Cup matches here. The new look Salt Lake Stadium looks absolutely stunning with state of the art facilities. The iconic venue will host 10 matches including the final on October 28. The Group F matches kicks off at the venue with England playing Chile followed by Mexico playing against Iraq.  Group league will see 6 matches being staged at the venue along with a Round of 16 match, Quarter final , 3rd place and the final.

Gate 3, 3A & 4 towards Broadway

Gate 5 & VIP on EM Bypass

Gate No 1 – parking near Anindita Tank No. 13

Gate No 2 – parking at Blocks GD, HD and IB

Gate No 3 – parking in the lane near Amol island to Khaldhar

Gate 3A – parking near Aamri petrol pump

Gate 4 – parking near SAI cut out to Loha pol

Gate 4A&B – parking for emergency evacuation (inside SAI) not for general parking
