Internet Desk : Anthony Martial scored a superb curled effort as Manchester United defeated Stoke City 3-0. Wayne Rooney and Jese Lingard also registered their names on the score sheet.
United lost their last Premier League match 1-0 against Southampton. Jese Lingard opened the scoring with a superb diving header at the 14th minutes. Juan Mata played a brilliant reverse pass to Cameron Borthwick-Jackson who sent in a superb cross and Lingard superbly headed home due to some shoddy defending from the Stoke defenders.
United had not scored in the first half since their 2-1 victory over Wolfsburg in the Champions League. United Doubles their lead in the 23rd minutes through a Anthony Martial blinder that could be the goal of the season. Mata linked up well with Ronney who sends a pinpoint pass to Martial. Martial received the ball and curled it to the right corner.
Wayne Rooney sealed the match in 53rd minutes. Mata and Martial was again involved. Mata feeds a superb ball to Martial on the left flank who sends a low cross to the United captain who taps in to score his 14th goal of the season. Ronney has now scored seven goals in seven matches and is only five goals behind Bobby Charlton’s 249 goals.
Martial was as usual brilliant with a goal and an assist. Rooney continued his sublime form in the new year. United were humiliated 2-0 by Stokeat the Britannia Stadium on the Boxing day.Just over 24 hours after Pep Guardiola was announced as Manchester City manager this win would surely work as a morale boost for the Red Devils.
