Kolkata: Brazilian Eduardo Ferreira will be travelling with the East Bengal team to Bengaluru to play warm up friendlies ahead of the start of I League. All the six foreigners including Katsumi will accompany the 24 member team that will play 4 practice matches against ISL opponents like Bengaluru FC (October 25 & 27), FC Pune City (October 30) and FC Goa (November 03).  The Red and Golds team will leave for Bengaluru tomorrow morning.

Brazilian Eduardo who arrived in the city on Sunday morning had his first training session with the team. The Brazilian who donned the Green and Maroon jersey last season was seen interacting with Willis Plaza on entering the ground. Coach Khalid Jamil tried him (Eduardo) in the defence along with Salam Ranjan Singh during practice. The Brazilian looked cheerful during the training session. He later went for his medical check up.

Coach Khalid Jamil did confirm that he will be taking all his six foreigners to play the warm up matches. Talking about the friendlies, Coach Khalid Jamil said, “It will be a good preparation for us ahead of the I League. We will be playing against tougher opponents which will be beneficiary for us. Eduardo will also travel with the team.”

On being asked whether the Brazilian will be match fit by the time I League starts, he said, “Until and unless he (Eduardo) plays a match we will not be able to assess his condition.”

“There will be enough time for us to prepare well for the I League.”

Meanwhile the Kolkata giants may play another match against Chennaiyin FC or Jamshedpur FC after playing against FC Goa.

“If everything falls in place we might play a match another warm up match,” said Khalid to the reporters.
