Kolkata: Today, after all the speculations, Kingfisher East Bengal have at last got the all important MRI done for their star Haitian Wedson Anselme and the report would certainly ease the pressure from the Red and Gold team management. The report didn’t seem as bad as it looked in the game against Bengaluru FC the other day when he left the field limping out with an injury.
East Bengal took Wedson and Plaza to check their fitness status at a clinic in Kolkata and Plaza has been declared fit by the doctors. East Bengal Assistant Secretary Dr. Shanti Ranjan Dasgupta spoke to www.xtratime.in and said,”Wedson has an injury in his abductor muscle of the groin and a rest of 7-10 days should be enough for him to get fit. He might be out for the next game but not for too long.” The East Bengal official added, “Plaza is fit now and can start full training from tomorrow.”
Both Plaza and Wedson hane been instrumental for East Bengal’s success this season and scored six goals each so far in the competition. East Bengal coach Trevor Morgan seemed focused on his job ahead as he told www.xtratime.in , “Well, Wedson will be out for 7-10 days I heard. But that’s part and parcel of life. Wedson played an exceptional game against Bengaluru and has been an important member of our squad. But, you cannot get all your players throughout the season.”
Trevor seemed happy as well as a bit circumspect about Willis Plaza’s fitness as he said, “I got the information that Plaza is fit. But we’ll see him in the training tomorrow before taking a call. If he feels comfortable, nothing like it. But if he feels the otherwise, we should not risk him as it can leave him out for weeks then.”
It is to see how the Trinidad and Tobago international trains tomorrow, as his presence might get significant for East Bengal when they will play Lajong away from home.
