East Bengal central defender suffers major heart attack, immediately hospitalized

Kolkata: East Bengal central defender and former Indian international Anwar Ali suffers major heart-attack after the training today and he has been taken to a nearby reputed hospital on a war footing near EM Bypass. The defender was returning back to his flat with his fellow mate Gurwinder Singh after training.

East Bengal Assistant Secretary Dr.Shanti Ranjan Dasgupta told www.xtratime.in , “Yes it was indeed a major heart-attack and now under the observance of Dr.Sunip Bandyopadhyay. They will first do the angiogram and then will do the angioplasty accordingly. I heard that he is stable now. But it’s indeed a very bad news.”

The moment the club got the bad news of Anwar, the officials and the players started to get nervous. But the hospital sources revealed that Anwar is stable now. The Punjab lad was played a significant part in Mohun Bagan’s historic triumph in the 2014/15 Hero I-League. Anwar joined East Bengal this season before the I-League and played some really good games under Trevor James Morgan before getting an injury in the groin.

The players, fans and the officials are praying for his speedy recovery.
