Internet Desk: Such is Diego Maradona’s desire to begin coaching again he has suggested that he would take the Argentina job for no wages.

Should he get the job it would be the 55-year-old’s second stint at the helm having previously coached the national team from 2008-2010.

Maradona’s tenure came to an end following a 4-0 quarter-final defeat at the hands of Germany in the 2010 World Cup.

He then went on to take charge of Dubai-based club Al Wasl in 2011 before getting the sack the following year and has not worked in a coaching capacity since his dismissal.

With Gerardo Martino having just resgined as Argentina manager, Maradona saw it as the perfect opportunity to throw his hat into the ring.

“[Diego] Simeone was not interested in the job for financial reasons. Money is not an issue for me,” the 1986 World Cup winner said. “I would coach the national team for free.

“A lot of people seem to think I am an expensive coach. But what about Mourinho? And Ancelotti or Simeone? I don’t know how expensive I am compared to these coaches.

“I am starting to miss coaching more and more. I miss working with the players and fighting with the journalists.”
