Kolkata: In a meeting on Wednesday, at the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) the Tournament Committee has decided to take strict action against some cricketers and officials. They had received a report that in some CAB Second Division League matches a few cricketers and officials misbehaved with the umpires as their decision went against the appealing team.

Today under the supervision of CAB President Sourav Ganguly a meeting was held at the Eden Gardens. Joint Secretary Abhishek Dalmia, Cricket Operation Manager Joydeep Mukherjee and some other dignitaries were also present in the meeting. The committee has found a number of twelve or thirteen incidents that had happened during a few second division league matches. In the next tournament committee meeting on Monday, they have called the suspected players and officials. According to CAB they will give a final warning to the players and officials because whatever they had done is against cricketing rule. A report was also filed to the CAB that in some first division league matches many teams are trying to slow the game after taking a first innings lead, as they have already secured 4 points in the match. The CAB office bearers have told that they are seriously looking into the matter.

In another news CAB is publishing a new tabloid of eight to ten pages from the first week of march, 2017. Every year CAB will publish three editions and they might name the tabloid “Maidan Times”. It will feature the stories about the top performances in CAB first and second division league, U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy winning moments and Mushtaq Ali Zonal T-20 group champion triumph.

CAB have also stated that they will organize a challengers tournament with the top performers of the second division tournament and only the U-22 players will be considered to play the Championship. Three teams will feature in this tournament and the Bengal selectors will chose the players for the competition.
