Contract Controversy: Previous victims are happy with the punishment to East Bengal

XtraTime Web Desk:
The Indian transfer market gets a new turmoil today as it reminded some infamous transfer controversies in the recent past like Snehasish Chakraborty, John Dias, Amit Das, Abinas Ruidas, Snehasish Chakraborty and Tolgay Ozbey. Coincidentally, it’s Kingfisher East Bengal again in the centre of controversy. This time, it’s Sukhdev Singh who is the victim.

But unlike few previous occasions, where the club settled the issue with The IFA, the Abinas Ruidas and Sukhdev Singh case, the federation’s decision has put the transfer activities of the club under the scanner. The Players Status Committee of The AIFF has announced a historic decision today to ban the club from any transfer activity till the end of this season. Though, East Bengal official Debabrata Sarkar told XtraTime, “I don’t know how the Players Status Committee can punish us. But yes, we will go for the appeal against it and will also consult with the advocates.”

But players like Amit Das and Snehasish Chakraborty, who had suffered such activities in the past, are quite annoyed with it. Amit Das told XtraTime, “It was quite funny with the way the club deceived me in the 96-97 season. They forced me to sign on a voucher when I was in a hurry to catch the flight to Goa to clear my due payment. Later I came to know that they somehow have used the sign in an illegal fashion and showed as I have taken an advance of Rs.20000 from the club. I was shocked.”

On the flip side, Snehashish said, “Everyone knows what happened with me. They copied my signature on the majority of the transfer papers. Still, IFA fined me a good amount ot money despite finding the club guilty. This punishment in Sukhdev case was needed. Else they would have continued to harm players like that.”
