The huge levels of love, pressure and expectation on the Brazil team ahead of the World Cup were laid bare as they trained on Friday.
Hundreds of fans gathered outside the Granja Comary training complex in Teresopolis, hoping to catch a glimpse of Neymar and the other Samba stars. The players too became speechless after watching the excitement from the fans.
It created a frightening looking crush at the locked gates outside the facility as the supporters tried to break their way in.
While some supporters were allowed in, there were dozens of fans turned away as the number who showed up far exceeded the venue’s capacity.
Children at the front were lifted over the gates to avoid them being injured, while other supporters pleaded with security to be allowed through.
Some of the young fans were left in tears after being denied entry to the facility where Brazil continued their World Cup preparations.
On the training pitch, Neymar continued his recovery from a broken foot which has kept him out of action since suffering the injury playing for PSG in March.
The striker looked delighted to be close to a return, laughing and joking with his team mates as he appeared able to play with little trouble.
It will raise hopes for the many Brazil fans that their superstar forward will be completely fit in time for the start of their tournament in Russia.
