The entire state of Mizoram got flooded in boundless joy to celebrate Aizawl FC's I-League win. Thousands of people received the team at the Lengpui airport with their famous chants. Aizawl FC gaffer Khalid Jamil was telling www.xtratime.in , "It was something I've never seen before. People irrespective any age greeted us with a lot of warmth and love. They were singing their songs. It was something unforgettable." He added, "I will decide my future after the Federation Cup, but one thing for sure, the boys are amazing. In the half time during the Lajong match, I just told my boys to give some extra effort. I told them to grab the opportunity which they might never get in future. They responded brilliantly. The celebration is the reward they deserved." A function was organized at the Assam Rifles ground in Aizawl this evening where thousands of AFC fans congregated to have a glimpse of their heroes. Then they went to their home ground Rajiv Gandhi Stadium to have their remaining part of the celebration. State home minister R Lalzirliana and Aizawl FC President Robert Romawia Royte addressed the congregation. The President told Xtratime.in, "Mizoram have won Santosh Trophy recently, my team won the Second Division I-League before qualifying for the I-League, but this triumph is something else. The reception we got was simply unprecedented. The mood was incredible." He added, "Aizawl FC might not have too much budget, but me and my family have announced to give Rs.25 lakh today as rewards for the players. All the prize money we have earned, will be distributed among the players." Aizawl FC, a hitherto little-known club with a shoe-string budget, were crowned I-League champions has been one of the most remarkable achievements in Indian sports history. The boundless celebrations were the reflection of their determination, hard work and focus. They have certainly taught a new lesson to all the sectors of the society with this incredible milestone.
