Image Source: twitter[/caption] Internet Desk: Real Madrid’s star winger Cristiano Ronaldo has won the prestigious Ballon d’or award for the fourth time in his career, claimed a famous Spanish daily on Tuesday. Ronaldo won his maiden Ballon d’or while playing for Manchester United in 2008, before Argentine star Lionel Messi claimed it for the first time a year later. Lionel Messi won the next three awards consecutively to become the only player in football history to claim the award on four separate instances. According to the Spanish daily Ronaldo is hot favorite to win the Ballon d’Or, considering his combined performance for club and country in a calendar year. He led Spanish giant Real Madrid to win their 11^th Champions League title, and also his national side to win their first major trophy, as Portugal became the Euro 2016 champions by beating host France. But the names like Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Atletico Madrid star forward Antoine Griezmann are on top of the nominations, still in contension by some critics, for winning the prestigious award. Francesc Aguilar, a sports journalist claimed that France Football - the daily which first founded the award - will fly to Madrid on Thursday to conduct an interview with Ronaldo. The winner is due to be announced on Monday.
