Image Source: XtraTime[/caption] Kolkata: India's oldest I-League club Mohun Bagan is all set to have yet another glorious feat as FIFA, the governing body of world football has decided to show a unique gesture to salute their path breaking IFA Shield triumph in 1911 against East Yorkshire Regiment, to start their ticket sales for the FIFA U17 World Cup this year. The parent body of world football has come up with a thoughtful way to kick-start the U-17 World Cup proceedings when they begin selling tickets for the showpiece event in India from May 16. In a planned tribute to Mohun Bagan's memorable win over Yorkshire regiment on 29th July, 1911 - they have decided to begin selling tickets for the gala event at exactly 19:11 hours (7:11 PM) on Thursday in mid May. By virtue of defeating a British team, the Mariners became the first ever side comprising solely of Indian players to beat their colonial masters. This became a defining feature of the latent Indian uprising against their British overlords and has had wide ranging cultural connotations. Mohun Bagan and Indian football legend Chuni Goswami got ecstatic the moment he came to know about the news as he said to www.xtratime.in , "It's a great honour for the most colourful football club in India. I have been associated with the club since 1946 when I was a ball boy. Later I captained the side for five years. I feel thrilled and thankful to FIFA for this memorable gesture." Mohun Bagan Assistant Secretary Srinjoy Bose too got overwhelmed with such recognition by FIFA but at the same time, without naming IMG-R, he expressed his grief as he said, "We feel proud and happy that the parent body of not Indian but world football has shown such recognition to the history and legacy of the club in such amazing manner. Unfortunately, an Indian company who organizes a tournament like ISL and claims to make it a top flight football competition in India, forgets the contribution the club has in Indian football when it comes to allow us to play in that league." FIFA had selected six venues to host the World Cup with New Delhi, Kochi, Navi Mumbai, Goa, Guwahati and Kolkata making the numbers. While Navi Mumbai and Guwahati are to host the semi-finals, Kolkata will become the first Indian city to host a FIFA final on the 28th October, 2017.
