File Pic.[/caption] Kolkata: Former India Team Director Ravi Shastri feels Viart Kohli is going through purple patch. Kohli has been in stupendous form in the ongoing Indian Premier League scoring a whopping 865 runs in 13 matches at an average of 86.50 with a strike rate of 155.01. The Indian test captain has scored 4 centuries with a best score of 113 of 50 balls against Kings XI Punjab. According to Shastri who was in the city to inaugurate the newly launched cricket academy of former Bengal pacer Barun Burman said, “Virat is passing through the form of his life. He is going through a purple patch. We have to applaud his achievements in recent times. Every cricketer passes through such a phase, whatever he does strike gold.” If things go accordingly, the former India captain can be reinstated into the Indian team. But in which role will depend on how things turn out in coming days. Shastri has been successful in his stint as the team director. Under him, the Indian team reached the semi finals of ICC World Cup in Australia and the recently concluded World T20. The Indian team also tasted success in test matches winning a series in Sri Lanka. On being asked whether he is interested for the role of coach, Shastri commented, “Look, BCCI is going through a process. They have to decide on the appointment of new coach. It will not be right for me to make any comment at this stage.” According to reports, Shastri was contemplating taking legal action for being depicted as a womanizer in the film, the former Indian cricketer has denied this saying he does not even plan to watch the movie. "I do not have time to watch such movies.” However, the former all-rounder said that he looks forward to watch the films on MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar, as they would be "serious biopics". Shastri and Azhar played together for the country in 45 Tests and 116 ODIs. Shastri was also Azhar's Vice Captain during the 1992 World Cup. Directed by Tony D'Souza, Azhar chronicles the life of former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin, who was implicated in a cricket match-fixing scandal in 2000, and banned for life. In 2012, however, the Andhra Pradesh High Court lifted the ban, describing it as "unsustainable". The film also talks about other cricketers like Manoj Prabhakar and Ajay Sharma and the match-fixing scandal of the 1990s. The former India all rounder visited the re-launch of the academy of former Bengal pacer Barun Burman on Sunday morning. Expressing his shock at the former Bengal pacer not making it to the Indian team, Shastri said, “He had tremendous pace. He was on par with Kapil Dev and Yograj Singh. But some how he did not get the backing to break into the Indian team. The cricketing culture in Bengal is vast. There have been some great cricketers who have gone on to play for the country. The media too is very strong in these parts. It leaves me perplexed why Bengal does not produce a cricketer”
