Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza and Ankita Raina at the Hyderabad airport on Monday.

Xtra Time Web Desk: Indian tennis duo of Sania Mirza and Ankita Raina will depart for Tokyo on Monday for the Tokyo Olympics tennis women’s doubles event.  Sania and Ankita were seen at the Hyderabad airport, being given a send off by the airport authorities. They will be travelling to the Japanese capital from New Delhi later in the day.

Sania is all set to become the first female athlete to represent India at four Olympics when she features at the Tokyo 2020, slated to get underway from July 23 while Ankita Raina will be making her debut at the showpiece event.

Indian ace tennis player Sumit Nagal has also qualified for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics on the basis of withdrawals in the men’s singles and will be joining the pair in Japan.

Sania and Ankita had been training at the former’s academy in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, the first batch of Indian athletes for the Tokyo Olympics has already reached the Japanese capital on Saturday. The badminton, tennis, archery and sailing teams has already started their training at the Olympics Games Village.
