Xtra Time Web Desk: In what comes as a big relief for Indian cricket team, Jasprit Bumrah is on road to recovery and might soon be in action starting with India’s tour to Ireland in August. The Men in Blue will be travelling to Ireland for white ball series and Bumrah’s return will be subject to the green signal from NCA medical staffs. If he is not hundred percent match fit for tour to Ireland then he is likely to return for Asia Cup which starts from August 31.

Bumrah has been out of action since the Asia Cup 2022. He was rushed for the white ball series against Australia before the T20 World Cup last year but that proved to be damaging. He underwent back surgery in March this year and has since undergoing his rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He has also started bowling but not full tilt yet.

Ideally the Ireland series will provide Bumrah much needed game time before the all-important Asia Cup in August and September followed by 50 overs World Cup starting in October and November.

Bumrah is undergoing his rehab under the watchful eyes of VVS Laxman and Nitin Patel, who is the head of sports medicine at NCA. S Rajnikanth, who was part of Delhi Capitals support staff and is now the pysio at NCA, has been working very closely with the Indian seamer and ensuring his rehabilitation remains on track.

Bumrah tried to stage a comeback in the home series against Sri Lanka in January but persistent back pain spoiled his plans and he was left with no option but to go under the knife after a couple of months. Since the surgery and start of the rehab, all stakeholders were happy to take the patient route with the talented seamer.

Bumrah’s return will give a huge boost to the Indian cricket team.
