Xtra Time Web Desk: The group stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, hosted by the USA, is set to conclude with the West Indies vs Afghanistan match on Tuesday, June 18. However, weather woes persist as three matches in Florida have already been canceled due to rain, raising concerns about the upcoming Super 8 matches.

All Super 8 matches, as well as the semi-finals and final, will take place in the West Indies, with venues in Barbados, St Lucia, Antigua, and St Vincent. A total of 12 Super 8 matches are scheduled, but rain threatens to disrupt nearly all of them. So far, five matches in the tournament have been affected by rain, including four washouts, dampening the excitement of the competition.

Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados: Barbados will host three Super 8 matches and the final. Rain is expected to interfere with two of the Super 8 matches, but the India vs Afghanistan match on June 20 has only a 10-20% chance of rain. The final on June 29 also faces potential rain disruption.

Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, St Lucia: St Lucia will host three Super 8 matches, including the highly anticipated India vs Australia match on June 24. While the matches involving England against West Indies and South Africa on June 20 and 21 are expected to have favorable weather, there is a 50% chance of rain for the India vs Australia clash.

Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua: Antigua is set to host four Super 8 fixtures. The England vs Namibia match on June 15 experienced a delayed start due to a wet outfield despite no rain. Each of the Super 8 matches here faces a 20-25% chance of rain.

Arnos Vale Stadium, Kingstown, St Vincent: Kingstown will host two Super 8 matches. Although the group games at this venue have not been affected by rain, the forecast for the Super 8 matches is not promising. The Australia vs Afghanistan match on June 23 has a 52% chance of rain, which could significantly impact the Super 8 Group 1 standings if washed out.

As the tournament progresses, fans and teams alike will be keeping a close eye on the weather, hoping for clear skies to ensure uninterrupted play and fair competition.
