Reflecting on his performance, Gaikwad shared, "It was pretty tough, the first 15 balls I played, I didn’t even middle a single ball. The wicket was slightly tough, me and Abhishek talked that we should take our time and then go for our shots, and it worked."
The duo's strategy to handle the spinners and adapt to the two-paced wicket paid off. "He took on the spinners really well, we talked about maintaining our shape while playing our shots. The wicket was slightly two-paced, some balls were skidding and some were holding up," Gaikwad added. Their approach underscored the importance of sticking to hard lengths and good lengths, akin to Test match tactics, to tackle the challenging pitch conditions.
