Mohun Bagan ready to play against Churchill Brothers

XtraTime Web Desk: Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan team traveled to Bhubaneshwar to play against Churchill Brothers in the inaugural edition of Super Cup. Churchill beat Delhi Dynamos in the previous match to qualify for the next round.  Former East Bengal striker Willis Plaza braced Churchill to clinch the victory. Not only Mohun Bagan but also six top I League teams got direct entry to the super cup.

Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan beat Churchill twice while they met each other in the recently concluded I League but, it will not be an easy task for mariners as it’s a new tournament and Willis Plaza will definitely look to perform well as he failed to impress for East Bengal in the two derbies against Bagan. Both teams have quality players in their ranks, it will be the battle of nerves more on the field rather than strategy.

In today’s pre-match press conference Mohun Bagan Head Coach Sankarlal Chakraborty said, “It is a different tournament, we need to focus and have to be serious in executing our plans, a simple mistake in strategy will lead to huge problem. It is a knockout tournament and there is no room for complacency.”

Talking about the opposition he said,“Churchill is a very good team, the inclusion of Plaza has added an extra flare to their squad, there other foreigners are too in good shape and are playing as a close unit. They love to play attacking football. We set high regards for Churchill and tomorrow’s match will be an important encounter for both teams. We will try to give our best and try to win to qualify for the next stage.”
