Xtra Time Web Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the triumphant Indian cricket squad at his official residence early Thursday morning after they returned home from their historic win at the 2024 T20 World Cup. The squad, alongside BCCI President Roger Binny and Secretary Jay Shah, engaged in a lively breakfast meet with the Prime Minister.

During the gathering, the players shared their experiences from the tournament, reminisced about key moments, and posed for photographs with PM Modi.

Batting superstar Virat Kohli later took to social media to express his gratitude for the warm reception. Sharing a picture with the Prime Minister, Kohli wrote, “What a great honour meeting our honourable prime minister Shri Narendra Modi ji today @narendramodi. Thank you sir for inviting us to the prime minister's residence.”

Prime Minister Modi also posted about the meeting on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), expressing his delight at the interaction. “An excellent meeting with our Champions! Hosted the World Cup-winning team at 7, LKM and had a memorable conversation on their experiences through the tournament,” he wrote.

The Indian cricket team arrived at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi after overcoming travel delays due to Hurricane Beryl, which had temporarily shut down the airport in Barbados. Once conditions improved, the BCCI organized a special Air India flight to bring the team back home.

Following their meeting with PM Modi, the squad departed for Mumbai, where they will be honored by the BCCI at the Wankhede Stadium. The celebrations will continue with an open bus parade through the city.

India made history by becoming the first team to win the T20 World Cup unbeaten. This victory marks their first ICC title since 2013, adding a glorious chapter to Indian cricket history.
