Xtra Time Web Desk: In a recent interaction at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence at New Delhi with Team India, he asked captain Rohit Sharma about his memorable gestures following India’s T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. Rohit had received the trophy from Jay Shah in a distinctive manner, imitating wrestling legend Ric Flair's iconic strut and taking a 'bite' of the Kensington Oval pitch in Barbados, actions that quickly went viral.

PM Modi inquired about the reasons behind these unique acts. Rohit explained his decision to taste the pitch, saying, "Where we got the win, I wanted to remember that moment. We played on that pitch and won the match there. We all had waited for that moment. Many times it came so close, but we couldn't go ahead. This time, because of everyone, we achieved it and that pitch was special to me. So, in that moment, it happened."

The Prime Minister then asked about the Flair strut. Rohit revealed that his team had encouraged him to do something unique while collecting the trophy, given their long wait for the World Cup victory. "It was such a big moment for all of us, everybody waited for it a long time. So everyone told me to not go to the stage in simple fashion," Rohit shared.

In a light-hearted exchange, PM Modi asked if spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was behind the idea. Rohit confirmed that both Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav had suggested it to him.
