Xtra Time Web Desk: With growing uncertainty surrounding the venue for the 2025 Champions Trophy, ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice provided clarity, confirming that there are no plans to shift the tournament from Pakistan.

The tournament, set to be held in Pakistan, faces ongoing speculation about whether India will participate, given the tense relations between the two nations. India has not toured Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup, with the last bilateral series taking place in 2012. Since then, both teams have only met in ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup.

Speaking at an event for the Women’s T20 World Cup in Dubai, Allardice reiterated that Pakistan remains the designated host for the 2025 Champions Trophy. "No plans to relocate the Champions Trophy from Pakistan," he stated.

Earlier this year, BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla emphasized that India’s participation in the tournament would depend on approval from the Indian government. "We will follow the decision of the Indian government regarding participation in the Champions Trophy," Shukla had said.

The 2025 Champions Trophy will feature eight top teams, including India, Australia, New Zealand, England, South Africa, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and hosts Pakistan. Pakistan, notably, won the last edition of the tournament in 2017, defeating India in the final.

Pakistan recently hosted the Asia Cup using a hybrid model, with all of India’s matches, including the India-Pakistan clash, being played in Sri Lanka.
