Xtra Time Web Desk: In a video shared by the BCCI, secretary Jay Shah confirmed Rohit Sharma's continued leadership of India's ODI and Test teams, expressing confidence in his ability to secure the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 and the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final next year.

"I am confident that under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, we will win the WTC Final and the Champions Trophy," Shah stated.

India ended their 11-year ICC title drought last week in Barbados with a seven-run victory over South Africa in the T20 World Cup final, their second T20 World Cup title since 2007. Despite previous near-misses, including last year’s ODI World Cup and WTC final, Shah praised Rohit’s leadership in overcoming these hurdles.

"This was our third final within a year. On June 11 last year, we lost the WTC final. On November 19, after winning 10 matches, we won hearts but failed to win the ODI World Cup. But as I had said earlier this year in Rajkot, India proceeded to win hearts and the World Cup under Rohit’s leadership,” Shah added.

Shah also commended Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya for their pivotal roles in the final's closing overs. The Champions Trophy 2025 will be held in Pakistan, and while Shah confirmed India’s participation, the logistics of the team traveling to the neighboring country remain uncertain. India currently leads the WTC points table, with crucial Test series against Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Australia upcoming.
