Xtra Time Web Desk: Bengaluru-born 'Local Boy' Rachin Ravindra marked a memorable Day 3 of the 1st Test against India by scoring his maiden Test hundred at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, continuing his affinity for the venue. Ravindra's century is the first by a New Zealand batter in 12 years in Tests, following Ross Taylor's century at the same ground in 2012. His 2nd Test ton came at a crucial juncture, where he and Tim Southee's partnership helped New Zealand extend their lead past 250.

Ravindra displayed a commanding presence, particularly against India's spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, using sharp footwork and timing to dominate. His milestone came with a boundary, earning him applause from the crowd, including his family, making it a special moment given his local ties to the city. His innings put New Zealand in full control as India conceded their largest first-innings lead at home since 2013.
