Xtra Time Web Desk: India captain Rohit Sharma issued a confident warning to Bangladesh ahead of their two-match Test series starting on September 19 in Chennai, referencing England’s recent tour to India as an example. Responding to questions about Bangladesh's confidence following their 2-0 series win in Pakistan, Rohit said India prefers to focus on their own game rather than worrying about their opponents.

"Every team wants to defeat India, let them have their fun, maze lene do unko," Rohit remarked in the pre-series press conference. "England also said a lot of things when they came here, but we never focused on them. We just want to have our preparations in place."

Bangladesh, after debuting in Test cricket against India in 2000, now see this series as one of their best chances to secure a historic win over India. However, Rohit emphasized that such confidence from opponents is irrelevant to India's approach.

The series marks the beginning of a busy phase for India, with 10 Test matches lined up in the next four months. Rohit is keen to start strong as India looks to consolidate their position atop the World Test Championship standings and aim for a third consecutive final appearance.

Reflecting on India’s recent close encounters with Bangladesh, including a narrow three-wicket win in their last Test meeting in December 2022, Rohit, who missed that series, is determined not to let any complacency creep in.

Regarding the team's preparation after a month-long break, Rohit acknowledged the challenge of regaining form but expressed confidence in the squad's experience. He also noted that players who haven’t played much Test cricket recently participated in the Duleep Trophy to ensure readiness.

"We’ve spent some good time preparing in Chennai since the 12th. It’s tough to come back after a break, but the guys know how to manage themselves. We are ready for the challenge," Rohit added.
