Xtra Time Web Desk: Virat Kohli made a critical DRS mistake on Day 2 of the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai, as he was dismissed for 17 after being trapped lbw by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Kohli, looking solid with two boundaries in his 36-ball stay, was beaten by a full delivery that struck his front pad. Initially unconvinced by the umpire’s decision, Kohli consulted briefly with his batting partner, Shubman Gill, before choosing not to review.

Replays, however, showed that Kohli had gotten an inside edge, which would have reversed the decision had he taken the review. The Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s frustrated reaction was captured on camera and quickly went viral on social media.

Virat Kohli’s decision not to review what turned out to be an inside edge has left many fans and experts puzzled. For a player of his experience and stature, known for his sharp cricketing instincts, it’s rare to see such indecision. This raises questions about whether Kohli is experiencing a dip in confidence, particularly when it comes to his judgement at the crease.

With the pressure of maintaining his high standards and expectations from fans, even legends like Kohli can sometimes second-guess themselves. In this instance, the hesitation to review a crucial decision hints that he might be feeling the weight of recent form or simply overthinking in a high-stakes situation. While one misstep doesn’t define a player of Kohli's caliber, it certainly adds a layer of intrigue to his mindset during this phase of his career.

At stumps, India reached 81 for three in their second innings, stretching their lead to 308 runs. Shubman Gill (33*) and Rishabh Pant (12*) were unbeaten at the crease. Earlier in the day, Bangladesh's first innings crumbled for just 149 in reply to India's 376. Jasprit Bumrah was India's star with the ball, picking up 4 for 50 as the visitors lasted just 47.1 overs.

Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud shone with the ball, completing a five-wicket haul, while Taskin Ahmed took three wickets. Despite the DRS error, India remained in a dominant position as they look to push for victory in the first Test.
