BCCI’s revised regulations on players’ family presence

Following India’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy defeat on Australian soil, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) introduced stricter guidelines regarding players spending time with their families during international assignments. Reports indicate that Indian cricketers were permitted to have their families accompany them for only one match in the Champions Trophy.

According to sources, the BCCI has restricted extended stays of players’ wives and girlfriends on tours. Additionally, cricketers must now travel exclusively on team buses and bear the cost of any extra luggage.

"The focus remains on team bonding and ensuring players stay together without distractions. Hence, the BCCI has allowed cricketers to have their family members (parents or wives) present for just one match during the Champions Trophy. However, prior permission from the board is mandatory. Players must specify which match their family will attend, and approval will be granted accordingly," a BCCI source revealed.
