Xtra Time Web Desk: It has been a meteoric rise for mystery spinner Murugan Ashwin who is playing in his fourth season of Indian Premier League (IPL). The young mystery spinner from Tamil Nadu credits his namesake and India star Ravichandran Ashwin for his growth. “Definitely R Ashwin has been a great help for me. Whenever I need help I go up to him. He has got answers for all my queries. Definitely, he has helped me to grow,” said Murugan ahead of the IPL clash against Delhi Capitals. The young mystery spinner has done away with the tag of being a specialist spinner. Murugan is playing in his fourth consecutive season in the cash-rich league. According to Murugan,“Yes, I am enjoying my time in IPL. This is my fourth year in the IPL and I feel I have grown with each year.” From being a net bowler for Chennai Super Kings, Murugan rose to prominence after attracting a huge bid from Rising Pune Supergiants in 2015. After being snapped up by Delhi last year, the leg-spinner was picked up by Kings XI Punjab for INR 20 lakhs ahead of IPL 2019. But for Murugan, his ultimate dream is to play Ranji Trophy for Tamil Nadu. “I would love to play the longer format and I am working on it. I would like to play Ranji Trophy regularly and contribute to my state team,” said Murugan.
