India at Tokyo Olympics: Archer Deepika Kumari beat Jennifer Mucino Fernandes to reach Q/F of women’s individual recurve event

Xtra Time Web Desk: Star Indian archer Deepika Kumari shrugged off her disappointment at Tokyo Olympics so far by sealing a place in the quarter finals of the women’s individual archery. Deepika defeated defeated Jennifer Mucino-Fernandes of the USA to reach the quarter-finals of women's individual archery on Wednesday.
After losing the first set, Deepika rallied to take the next two before Jennifer pulled on back to send the match to a fifth set. In the fifth set, Jennifer needed a ten on her final shot to level Deepika's total score of 26, but she hit a nine. The final score was 25-26. 28-25, 27-25, 24-25, 26-25 in favour of Deepika.
Earlier in the day Deepika Kumari beat Bhu Karma to reach the last 16. She was in fine form as she won 26-23, 26-23, 27-24 in straight sets.
