Xtra Time Web Desk: Indian captain Rohit Sharma had another forgettable outing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, as his Australian counterpart Pat Cummins dismissed him cheaply in the ongoing third Test at The Gabba in Brisbane. Coming at number six, Rohit managed only ten runs before Cummins dismissed him with a ripper.

The incident occurred during the 24th over of India's first innings when Rohit Sharma was trying to steady the ship alongside KL Rahul. The duo had a positive start to the day, countering the Australian bowlers with utmost precision. However, as the Indian fans started hoping for a turnaround from Rohit, the Indian captain once again failed to play an impactful knock at a crucial stage.

After starting his over with two consecutive dot balls, Pat Cummins pitched the ball up, luring Rohit onto a drive. However, as it wasn't a half volley from the Australian captain, Rohit managed only an outside edge, with wicketkeeper Alex Carey taking a simple catch behind the stumps.

Thus, Rohit got out while poking at a delivery pitched around the fourth stump line just like his long-time India teammate Virat Kohli.

This was Rohit's third consecutive low score in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The Indian skipper, who missed the first Test due to the birth of his first child, had a miserable game in the Adelaide Test, managing only nine runs across two innings. Although he looked steadier in Brisbane, one false shot led to his downfall, resulting in his dismissal for 10.

So, as the veteran Mumbaikar continues to struggle, here's how he has performed in his last ten Test innings.

Thus, Rohit Sharma has been mediocre as a batter in his last ten Test innings, amassing 126 runs at a horrendous average of 12.6. He has managed only one fifty this period while getting dismissed for a score less than 20 nine times.

Should India Drop Rohit Sharma From Tests?

Rohit Sharma achieved new heights as a captain after leading India to the title in the 2024 T20 World Cup. However, things have turned upside down for the talismanic batter since then, as he has been scrutinised for his terrible batting form and tactical shortcomings in Tests. So, considering his abysmal Test form, India might consider dropping him if he doesn't regain his mojo in the BGT 2024.
