It is already confirmed that Indian Captain Rohit Sharma will miss the first test against Australia in Perth. Right now India's opener Shubham Gill has been ruled out of the series opener with an injury.
The loss against New Zealand caused India a slip down in the points table of World Test Championship making these matches against Australia must win. India needs to win 4 matches anyhow to qualify for the finals but the unavailability of both openers may create some bars. How will India set their batting combination!

• KL Rahul- KL Rahul is India's one of the highly experienced batters who has played some extraordinary innings whole opening but right now he seems to be out of touch completely. Rahul averages 32 as an opener away from India and has scored six hundreds. Although he has received ample support from management still he failed to make it big in the unofficial Test against Australia A.

• Abhimanyu Easwaran- 29 years old Abhimanyu has earned his place in team by scoring four consecutive centuries in as many games in ongoing domestic season but failed to impress in the two matches against Australia A scoring 36 runs across four innings. 
    • Dhruv Jurel- India' s young batter Dhruv Jurel has always been on the spotlight for showcasing his skills in crucial moments. The 23 years old Jurel has scored 80 and 68 while fighting for his team as a lone warrior in both innings. 
    • Virat Kohli- It is quite clear that there will be some changes in batting order hence Virat Kohli can be India' s no. 3. He can steal the game alone. Although he has not seemed to be in his rhythm still his records indicates his capabilities to manage things in Australian soil.
    • Washington Sundar- Washington Sundar can also be given a change as he has showcased his potential to bat on his debut in Australia in 2021 as he scored scoring a crucial 62 in the first innings at the Gabba, Brisbane.
