Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India star batter KL Rahul is expected to join the squad in Colombo for ongoing Asia Cup 2023. Rahul has passed the preliminary fitness tests that were held at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru on Saturday, September 2. He will travel to Colombo soon and join the squad for Super 4 stages. Rahul is also likely to make his mark in India's 15-member provisional World Cup squad. The official announcement is just around the corner.

With Rahul set to join the squad, it no doubt strengthens the Indian team. But at the same time, it is a good headache to have as well with Ishan Kishan coming good in the first match against Pakistan. The left hander scored a brilliant 82 runs off 81 balls at the Pallekele stadium on Saturday.

It goes to be seen if Ishan also scores in the second group league game against Nepal in the ongoing tournament, will he be persisted with or Rahul will be drafted straight into the playing XI for Super 4 stages.

Meanwhile, the Indian players are enjoying a rest day here in Kandy. The second Group A fixture between India and Nepal will take place at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Monday. The match will start at 3pm local time.
