Xtra Time Web Desk: Kolkata Knight Rider’s premier fast bowler Pat Cummins will be arriving in India on April 2 for the upcoming edition of the India Premier League (IPL 2021). The news comes as a huge relief for the Shah Rukh Khan owned franchise as it is very tough to get people out of Australia due to the strict restrictions in place because of COVID-19.

Cummins will have to undergo seven days mandatory quarantine on reaching India which means he can only start training with his KKR teammates on April 9. As per the SOPs set by BCCI every individual taking part in IPL 2021, will have to undergo a quarantine of seven days during which they will be tested multiple time. They will only be allowed to come out of room once all the results come negative.

Cummins was bought by the Kolkata based franchise last year for a whopping 15.5 crore which made him the most expensive foreign player in the history of the tournament. However, that record has been broken by Chris Morris this season as he was purchased by Rajasthan Royals for 16.25 crore.

IPL 2021 will begin on April 9 this year with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians locking horns in the tournament opener. KKR will begin their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 11.

KKR’s Caribbean duo Sunil Narine and Andre Russell already arrived in India on Tuesday and the duo is currently undergoing seven-days quarantine.

Dinesh Karthik, Varun Chakravarthy, Rahul Tripathi, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Sandeep Warrier, Vaibhav Arora, and support staff including assistant coach Abhishek Nayar and assistant bowling coach Omkar Salvi were among the first set of people to arrive at the KKR team hotel in Mumbai on March 20
