KKR's Sunil Narine has been reported for suspect bowling action in the IPL 2020 match against KXIP on Saturday.

Xtra Time Web Desk: Kolkata Knight Riders ace spinner Sunil Narine has been reported for suspect bowling action during the IPL 2020 match against Kings XI Punjab in Abu Dhabi on Saturday. The report was made by the on-field umpires Chris Gaffaney and Ulhas Gandhe according to the IPL’s Suspected Illegal Bowling Action Policy. The mystery spinner from Trinidad will be placed on the Warning List and is permitted to continue to bowl in the tournament. Another report against Narine will bar him from bowling any further in the ongoing IPL 2020 until cleared by the BCCI Suspect Bowling Action Committee.

Narine bowled a brilliant last over to restrict Glenn Maxwell to score the required 15 runs to take KXIP home. He gave away only 11 runs to help KKR register a thrilling 2 runs win over Punjab.

Narine has had troubles with his action since 2014. He was reported twice in the Champions League 2014 tournament and missed the 2015 World Cup to work on his action. He was reported during the 2015 IPL as well and was eventually suspended from bowling in November that year. The International Cricket Council cleared his action in April 2016 but he had to pull out of the T20 WC in India that year. In March 2018, he was reported again during the Pakistan Super League.

The mystery has worked extensively with Carl Crowe, an off-spinner himself during his playing days, to remodel his action. The Kolkata franchise also got a Leicester-based biomechanist into the picture to help the spinner. Narine is an vital cog in the bowling line up of the Kolkata Knight Riders.
