Xtra Time Web Desk: Mumbai Indians all rounder made a bold statement by taking a knee in support of the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement during Match 44 of IPL 2020 match against Rajasthan Royals at Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

Hardik, who scored a scintillating 60 off 21 balls took the knee on reaching his fifty on the penultimate ball of the innings with a six. He went down on a knee with his right arm raised and signalled towards the Mumbai Indians dugout, much to the liking of stand in Captain Kieron Pollard.

Pandya posted a picture of his gesture on his Twitter and Instagram accounts after the match with the caption, "BlackLivesMatter".

Cricket joined hands with the BLM for the first time when the West Indies team took a knee on their tour of England this summer. It was part of a worldwide movement in the aftermath of Black American George Floyd's death in Minnesota in March earlier this year

On Sunday during the opening game of WBBL, the Hobart Hurricanes and Adelaide Strikers cricketers took the knee to show their support towards the movement.
