XtraTime Web Desk: Kings XI Punjab opener Chris Gayle has got himself into a controversy. As per reports the swashbuckling Jamaican batsman was involved in a shoot for an advertisement before going into quarantine in Dubai. It was a clear case of breaching the SOPs provided to the franchises which states each and every member of the franchises should quarantine themselves in the hotel on reaching UAE as per BCCI. The Kings XI Punjab team is staying at Sofitel-The Palm hotel in Dubai. It is mandatory for anyone entering Dubai to go into 6 days quarantine where they have to be tested thrice on Day 1,3 & 5. If the results come negative only then they will be allowed to go out else they have to go again in isolation.

It has been learnt that Gayle arrived in the UAE a few days back but went into quarantine only two days later. He posted a ‘story’ on his Instagram account about the shooting of an advertisement and then made the account private. Twenty-four hours later, he again made the account public, by when the post had expired. A Kings XI Punjab spokesperson said that Gayle did not shoot for the team or for the promoters of the franchise and went into quarantine after shooting the advertisement.

“There was no violation of any rules,” the spokesperson said “He will join the bubble post quarantine.” According to the spokesperson, Gayle went into quarantine on Friday. Gayle was coming after attending the much-publicised party hosted by fellow Jamaican Usain Bolt back home. After the party, Bolt had tested positive but Gayle’s test came negative.
