XtraTime Web Desk: The Board of Control in India (BCCI) is looking at September 26-November 08 window to stage the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year. The tentative dates though are subject to the postponement of the T20 World Cup, scheduled to be hosted by Australia in October-November.

It is learnt that the Board is keen to stage the cash rich league this year, even if the matches are to be staged closed doors. BCCI has spoken to all the franchises, media partners and other stakeholders of IPL and came up as September 26 to November 8 as the window to host the cash rich league.
Earlier the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has written to all the state associations to be prepared for the IPL if an opportunity does arise. The letter was communicated on the day of International Cricket Council (ICC) had a virtual board meeting. The ICC board in its meeting decided to wait until the next month before arriving at a final decision on the fate of the T20 World Cup.

It was earlier reported that the Board is exploring all options to stage the cash rich league. Sri Lankan Cricket and UAE cricket boards have offered to host the IPL in their country. But with the COVID-19 cases continuing to rise, BCCI is yet to take a final call on the venue.

IPL Governing Council chairman Brijesh Patel in a recent interview spoke about all the options they are looking at. According to Patel, “The IPL 2020 can be hosted closed doors, can be limited to fewer venues, can be taken overseas, and can be even played without international players”
