Xtra Time Web Desk: It was a dream cum true for young Anukul Roy who made his debut for Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Indian Premier League on Friday against Chennai Super Kings. The youngster from Bihar was handed over the MI cap by Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga. Roy justified his selection in the playing XI, picking the wicket of Dhruv Shorey in his first over. He had Shorey caught at long on by Rahul Chahar for only 5 runs. His debut spell in the cash-rich league read 2-11-1.

The 20-year-old, who hail from Bhirha, a remote village in Rosera block of Samastipur district in Bihar was the joint highest wicket-taker in the U19 World Cup in New Zealand. The left arm spinner grabbed 12 wickets in the tournament. He also showed grit with the bat, scoring a quick-fire 33 against Pakistan and 28 against South Africa. Roy shifted to Jharkhand like his friend and former U19 captain Ishan Kishan. In fact, Kishan also plied his trade with Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Anukul has so far taken 30 first-class wickets.
