The talismanic RCB captain fired his way into form in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2019) with a blazing knock of 84(49) runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday. Kohli on scoring 60 runs went past Chennai Super Kings batsman Suresh Raina who has 5087 runs under his belt. Virat has so far registered 5110 runs in the cash rich league. Kohli’s 49 ball knock was studded with 9 fours and two thunderous strikes into the stands. The RCB captain has now scored 35 fifties in the IPL. The Bangalore captain was criticized for not being amongst the runs. Prior to this knock, Kohli had a lukewarm outing with the bat. His scores read 6, 46, 3, and 23 in the cash rich league this season. During the course of the innings, Kohli also became the second Indian to complete 8000 T20 runs after Suresh Raina. West Indian Chris Gayle has scored the most number of runs in T20s. The Jamaican has notched 12,457 runs in 374 matches. New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum is second on the list with 9,922 runs.
