Xtra Time Web Desk: It has already been announced that the Indian team will not go to Pakistan for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. Instead, Rohit Sharma's India will play their matches in Sri Lanka.

On Wednesday, IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal revealed this information. Dhumal is currently in Durban, South Africa, for a meeting with ICC Chief Executives, where BCCI President Jay Shah and PCB representative Zaka Ashraf will finalize the schedule for the Asia Cup.

In an interview, Arun Dhumal said, "Our Secretary has met PCB Chairman Jaka Ashraf, and as per the previous discussions, the finalization of the Asia Cup is still pending. There will be four matches in Pakistan, and then nine matches in Sri Lanka. If India and Pakistan face each other in the final, it will be that match."

Further discussions had sparked speculation that Pakistan's Sports Minister, Ehsan Mazari, claimed that India would come to Pakistan to play. However, Dhumal dismissed those speculations.

He said, "There have been no such discussions. Neither is India going to Pakistan nor is our Secretary going to that country. The schedule has only been finalized."

If everything goes well, India and Pakistan will face each other in the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, just like in 2010. In addition, Pakistan will only play against Nepal at home in the Asia Cup. Apart from that, the remaining three matches will be Afghanistan vs. Bangladesh, Bangladesh vs. Sri Lanka, and Sri Lanka vs. Afghanistan.
