Xtra Time Web Desk: For the first time in the history of Indian cricket, the senior men’s and women’s teams will be travelling together on the tour to England. Both the teams will board the same chartered flight to UK on June 2 from Mumbai. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has asked both men’s and women’s cricketers to report to Mumbai to enter a bio-bubble.

Kohli & his boys will play the ICC WTC Final against New Zealand followed by the five test match series against England. Mithali Raj’s team will be involved in a one off test match against England followed by three ODIs & T20Is. Both the teams will have to undergo strict quarantine for seven days before being allowed to train. All the players and support staffs need to return two negative COVID-19 tests during the quarantine

The Indian cricket board has been meticulous in their preparations ahead of the tour to England. The BCCI arranged doorstep Covid-19 test for all the players in the squad including the standby players and their family members, who will accompany them, before joining BCCI’s bio-bubble in Mumbai.

However, players who live in Mumbai like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane amongst others, will be given a one-week exemption provided they strictly follow the one-week isolation at home and don’t step out.  BCCI has also asked players to get the Covishield vaccine instead of the Covaxin, as the former being a UK-based product will be easily available in the UK. The majority of players have taken the first jab.
