Xtra Time Web Desk: India senior football team coach Igor Stimac’s contract was on Friday extended till September 2021 by All India Football Federation’s Technical Committee. Igor Stimac’s contract was till May 15. The technical committee meeting was chaired by Deputy Chairman Henry Menezes in the absence of Chairman Shyam Thapa, who was unwell. The meeting which was held via video conferencing was also attended by AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das and Deputy General Secretary Abhishek Yadav

According to a statement by the AIFF, “The Committee unanimously decided to extend National Team Head Coach Igor Stimac’s contract till September 2021. The Committee will meet again in September to discuss the future pathway forward.”

Stimac is currently in Doha for India’s forthcoming matches in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Qualifiers, slated to be played from June 3 onwards, was on contract till May 15.

Meanwhile, Savio Medeira will take charge as AIFF’s interim Technical Director as approved by the Committee.

The Committee was appraised about the current pandemic situation which prohibits any footballing activities to be held in the country until the coronavirus pandemic situation improves.
