Xtra Time Web Desk : India U19 on Saturday defeated South Africa U19 in the ICC U19 World Cup by a margin of 45 runs to start their campaign on a winning note, courtesy of brilliant performances from Yash Dhull, Vicky Ostwal and Raj Bawa.

The Indian colts were put into bat first after South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl first. On a slowish Guyana pitch, India were off to a disastrous start as both the openers in Harnoor Singh and Angkrish Raghuvanshi were dismissed by Alpine Mnyanda within the first six overs. It was then captain Yash Dhull's steady 82 along with contributions from Shaik Rasheed (31) & Nishant Sandhu (27) & Kaushal Tambe (35) which steered India all the way through to a fighting total of 232 in 46.5 overs.

South Africa in reply put up a steady start to their innings after the initially losing their opener Ethan John Cunningham in the first over itself to Hangargekar for the score of zero. It was Dewald Brevis' fighting 65 which kept South African colts in the match for quite a while. But eventually his fight was cut short by Raj Bawa, as he bowled brilliantly to end up the tournament opener with 4 wickets in his bag.

Another star perfromer in the match was Vicky Ostwal, as the young bowler took a brilliant 5-fer against the Proteas U19 and cut short their innings to a total of 187 to eventually help register India their first win in this year's U19 World Cup.
