Xtra Time Web Desk: In a thrilling encounter at the Veltins Arena in Germany, England emerged victorious against Slovakia, securing a 2-1 win in the Euro 2024 Round of 16. The match was marked by dramatic late goals from Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane, propelling England into the quarter-finals.

Slovakia took an early lead with a 25th-minute goal from forward Ivan Schranz, putting England on the back foot. The English side struggled to find their rhythm for much of the match, with Slovakia maintaining their advantage deep into the second half.

However, in a moment of sheer determination and skill, Jude Bellingham, who was later named Man of the Match, found the back of the net in the dying moment, 90+5’. Bellingham’s equaliser brought England level at 1-1 and igniting hopes of a comeback.

With the game tied, the match headed into extra time. Just as the additional period began, England captain Harry Kane produced a moment of magic, scoring a decisive goal that gave England a 2-1 lead at the 91’ (extra time). Kane’s quick strike at the onset of extra time left Slovakia with little opportunity to respond.

England’s spirited performance ensured their progression to the quarter-finals, where they will face Switzerland. Despite a commendable campaign, Slovakia’s journey in the tournament comes to an end with this defeat.
