The decisive moment came in the 38th minute when Wober inadvertently turned Kylian Mbappe’s cross from the right flank into his own net, giving Les Bleus the lead. Despite Austria’s improved performance under coach Ralf Rangnick, their pressing game wasn't enough to secure a win against the 2022 World Cup runner-up.

Mbappe, who later left the field with a bloodied nose following a collision, missed a crucial opportunity that could have extended France's lead.
