Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Jumps 230 Places In The Recent ICC T20I Rankings As Ishan Kishan Becomes No.1 Rated Batter

Teenage wonder Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has continued his impressive start to his international career by rising significantly in the current ICC Men's T20I Batting Rankings.

Sooryavanshi won his maiden Player of the Series title by scoring 151 runs at an average of 50.33 during India's recent 3-0 series victory over Zimbabwe in Harare, and his achievements were not overlooked in the ICC's weekly rankings, which were updated on Wednesday.

The 15-year-old climbed 230 places to a new career-best rating of 48th among T20I hitters, trailing behind No.1 rated colleague Ishan Kishan at the top of the rankings.

Kishan set his personal career high rating after hitting an 81 in the second game of the series in Zimbabwe, bringing his total to 916 points, trailing only teammate Abhishek Sharma (931 rating points) and England's Dawid Malan (919). Kishan dipped back to 910 points at the end of the series, but he is still comfortably clear of second-placed Sahibzada Farhan (848).

Sooryavanshi's rating of 536 points is well behind that of his more experienced colleagues, but Kishan can now claim to have a higher lifetime batter rating than more accomplished Indian players like as Suryakumar Yadav (912) and Virat Kohli (909).

The latest rankings update brings more joy for India's white-ball stars, with Tilak Varma (up two rungs to sixth) and Shreyas Iyer (up seven places to 24th) rising up the list for T20I batters, while Ravi Bishnoi jumps 31 spots to 41st for T20I bowlers following his three scalps in the Zimbabwe series.

Zimbabwe didn't entirely lose out despite the series scoreline, with Ryan Burl gaining six ranks to equal 85th for T20I batsmen and big pacer Blessing Muzarabani jumping 10 rungs to go to 26th for T20I bowlers.
