India's men's team may have endured a disappointing tour of England and Ireland, but India's women created history at the iconic Lord's. In the first-ever women's Test at the Home of Cricket, India outclassed England by a massive 270 runs, thanks to a sensational all-round performance led by Yastika Bhatia and Kranti Goud.
Yastika etched her name into the record books by becoming the first woman to score a Test century at Lord's. She played a magnificent knock of 113, while Smriti Mandhana provided solid support with 67 runs. Bengal's Richa Ghosh also made a valuable contribution with a well-crafted half-century.
With the ball, Kranti Goud produced a performance for the ages. After claiming five wickets in the first innings, she returned to devastate England in the second innings with a remarkable seven-wicket haul, finishing as the undisputed star of the match.
India posted 285 runs in their first innings before bowling England out for 170, securing a crucial 115-run lead. The visitors then declared their second innings at 341/7, setting England a daunting target of 457 runs.
Facing an uphill task, England's batting line-up crumbled under relentless pressure from the Indian bowlers. They were bundled out for just 186, handing India a commanding 270-run victory and a historic triumph in the inaugural women's Test at Lord's.
The emphatic win marks one of the greatest moments in Indian women's cricket, with Yastika's record-breaking century and Kranti Goud's extraordinary bowling display ensuring the visitors left the Home of Cricket with a place in history.
