After Rohit Yadav Ban, BCCI Names Two Replacements for India U-19 Australia Series

Xtra Time Newsdesk: The BCCI has made changes to India’s Under-19 squads for the upcoming Australia series, days after taking disciplinary action against Bengal leg-spinner Rohit Yadav over discrepancies in his age-related documents. Yadav, who had been selected for both the One-Day and Multi-Day squads, has now been removed from the teams following the BCCI’s decision to impose a two-year ban on him.

The latest development means the India U-19 squad will now have two new faces for the Australia series. The Junior Cricket Committee has named Saurashtra Cricket Association’s Aryan Savsani as Yadav’s replacement in the One-Day squad, while Haryana Cricket Association’s Tanmay Baloda has been brought into the Multi-Day team.

Yadav’s removal comes after scrutiny of his age records revealed inconsistencies in the documents submitted during his registration. The issue emerged as the BCCI intensified its checks on age-related documentation in junior cricket. Yadav had also been part of India’s U-19 squad for the tour of Sri Lanka earlier this year before being selected for the Australia series.

For Savsani and Baloda, the changes bring a major opportunity at the international junior level. Savsani will now be part of India’s One-Day side, while Baloda gets his chance in the longer format. Both players will be looking to make the most of an opportunity that came their way following an unexpected change in the squad.

India U-19 are scheduled to face Australia in three One-Day matches, beginning September 18, followed by two four-day fixtures. The One-Day games will be played on September 18, 21 and 23, while the Multi-Day matches are scheduled from September 27-30 and October 5-8. The BCCI’s decision not only reshapes the squad ahead of the Australia series but also highlights the board’s continued focus on ensuring age-group cricket remains compliant with eligibility rules.
