XtraTime Web Desk: Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out for at least three weeks after suffering a hamstring injury to his left leg. The injury has put his participation in India’s five-match ODI series against New Zealand, beginning November 4, in doubt.
Krishna picked up the injury during the second ODI against the West Indies in Guwahati, which forced him to miss the third match in Chandigarh. The 30-year-old pacer walked off the field during the 31st over of the West Indies innings in Guwahati after bowling just five overs. He finished the match with one wicket and took three wickets in the ODI series overall.
The injury has also made Krishna doubtful for the first phase of the Ranji Trophy. Karnataka are scheduled to begin their campaign against Andhra Pradesh in Vijayawada.
Krishna underwent an assessment at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in his hometown Bengaluru. It has been learnt that he will need around three weeks to recover, while he is expected to resume full-intensity bowling only after four weeks.
As a result, his availability for the early part of the ODI series against New Zealand remains uncertain. India head coach Shubman Gill has also acknowledged that the team is facing difficulties because of the lack of full strength in the bowling department.
